He will have Ryan Newman as a teammate.
Casey Mears will be in the #12 car.
With Casey’s help, Sam Hornish will have a much improved second season.

One US open wheel series, about time

While I have never liked Tony George for creating the IRL and splitting the US open wheel racing teams, I have enjoyed the close competition of his series in the last few years.
The Champ car series was not worth watching lately. I would watch a couple of races each year because of the tracks they were on, Cleveland and Laguna Seca are two examples.
It looks like it is all coming back together, finally. I guess Tony George gets the credit for this one, but I still don’t like him. He created the mess in the first place.

I increased the size of the header by 90 pixels.
Don’t know if I like the bigger size, but I like this image at this size.

NASCAR on Fox - Waltrip on Waltrip

I’m sure this will be the first of many posts on Fox’s coverage of NASCAR racing.

I liked Darrell Waltrip as a driver, I don’t as a race commentator.

The last person that should comment on Michael Waltrip’s cheating and penalties should be his brother.

The first of my two reasons is, THEY’RE BROTHERS!
Do you think he is not going to defend Michael? Sure he is.

Second, this is Toyota’s first race in the Cup series. The last thing they want is a black eye in their debut at NASCAR’s biggest race. Guess who owns a Toyota Craftsman truck team, that’s correct, Darrelll.

I call that conflict of interest, times two.

I know, it’s now O’Reilly Raceway Park.

First, I don’t like Michael Waltrip in the announce booth. With him no driver can do no wrong. It always seems to be a ‘racing incident’, unless it’s a blatantly obvious. The frequent mention of his sponsors and future car make is enough to make me sick. I know they pay the bills, but give it a rest once in a while. OK, we get it, they sponsor the free pass rule when a caution comes out, mention the name and move on.

Second, for some reason they were not showing the running order on the screen until the last 20 laps of the race. I assume there was some kind of technical problem. They may have said the why and I missed it. A mention of more then just the top 10 would have nice every once in a while. I know it’s a short track with lots of action and positions changing all of the time. The fans interest maybe with drivers not in the top 10.

For example Marcos Ambrose. I have watched him in the past in the Australian V8 Supercar series and I would like to see him succeed here in America. I didn’t find out what position he was in until he got the free pass and then when he was involved in a crash. The announcers should listen to a MRN/PRN radio broadcast of a race to see how it’s done. I realize on radio a greater description is needed, but you usually don’t have to wait until 20 to go to find out a drivers position.

Let’s hope the technical issues are fixed for the Busch race and Michael is on the track and not in the booth.

My favorite Firefox extensions part 1 - Sage

First you will need to download Firefox. A much safer browser than Internet Explorer. Firefox in some ways is not as powerful as IE, that’s what makes it safer. But in other ways it’s more useful. Firefox allows you to install extensions to customize and add functionality. There are a couple of web sites I need IE, for example Microsoft Update, but otherwise I use Firefox.
Sage is a RSS reader. RSS stand for “really simple syndication”. It’s a way to read the latest updates on a web page or blog. If you see an icon like these the page has a RSS feed and can be added to your feeds (links) in the Sage reader.

Once you have installed Sage go to a page that has as a RSS feed and on the right side of the address bar in Firefox you will see this icon , click on it and choose to save the feed (link) in the Sage Feeds folder.

Now go to the tools menu and choose Sage , or hit alt-s, and you should see the feed you just added. With in the Sage window you can right click and add folders to organize your feeds.

I think I worked for this guy…
